Day 1. Arrival / San Jose

Meet and greet at the airport by our representative who will be taking you to your hotel in San Jose. Hotel Brittania

Day 2. to Tortuguero (B, L, D)

Travel early today towards our Caribbean side. Passing the central highlands we will make a stop to enjoy breakfast. Then continue through banana plantations and then at the dock meet our boat. Now we are immersed in this amazonic environment of Tortuguero. The waterways bring us to exuberant forest on both sides of the boat and you wonder how the boatman doesn't get lost in this labyrinth of canals. We will arrive in Tortuguero for a late lunch. Your guide will take any opportunity offered by nature to see wildlife so, have your binoculars and camera handy. This afternoon explore the area and the town of Tortuguero . Spend these two nights in Pachira Lodge.

Day 3. In Tortuguero (B, L, D)

Full day exploring Tortuguero, in the morning go for a guided boat ride along the water canals. The boat goes slowly and your guide and boat man will allow you to see the most amazing creatures in this region: lizards, iguanas, bats, sloths, howler monkeys, kingfishers, anhingas, great egrets and many more. Also go for a guided hike in the trails of the park. Pachira Lodge

Day 4. to Sarapiqui (B, L)

This early morning there will still be time for some bird-watching in the surroundings of the hotel. By mid-morning travel by boat out of Tortuguero. Then continue by shuttle service to Sarapiqui. Staying overnight at the confluence of two major rivers the Sarapiqui and the Puerto Viejo. The area of Sarapiqui is well-known for the protection of the lowland tropical rainforest. The leading OTS biological station located in Sarapiqui, provides education, research and the responsible use of natural resources. Following these efforts others in the region participate in tropical forest conservation, environmental education and responsible tourism. Enjoy a leisure evening at the .

Day 5. in Sarapiqui, chocolate tour / white water rafting (B)

This early morning enjoy some bird-watching in the lush gardens of the hotel. After breakfast be part of the Chocolate tour. You will be guided through the trails of protected land where you will encounter an old cocoa plantation. Here, learn about the cocoa tree, the harvesting and the process of the seeds to delicious chocolate. Then in the early afternoon go for a refreshing white water rafting tour along the Sarapiqui River . In the upper part of the Sarapiqui river there is fast water for exciting rafting. Down river the boat ride is slower and gives chances for wildlife viewing such as caymans, iguanas, monkeys and many birds. Centro Neotropico Sarapiquis.

Day 6. La Paz Waterfalls & Gardens / (B, L)

After breakfast travel over the mountains, stopping at La Paz waterfalls & gardens, and experience at an altitude ranging from 4300 to 5000 feet the ideal climate for loud and rainforest to coexist. La Paz Waterfall Gardens ´ trail design includes two miles of paved trails and viewing platforms of the awesome power of the five majestic waterfalls. Additionally enjoy the hummingbird gallery plus one of the largest outdoor butterfly enclosures. Continue after lunch to mountain lodge. Overnight in Poas Volcano Lodge.

Day 7. At the Cloud forest (B)

Today you will be at 6200ft above sea level on the ridge dividing the Atlantic and Pacific zones of the country. Being between Poas and Barva Volcanoes, pick a tour on your own for today. Visit Poas Volcano, one of the world´s largest active craters. OR go for a nice hike in the trails of the lodge. Enjoy the impressive views from this area, not only the volcano, but also the western side of the spectacular Braulio Carrillo national park. Overnight in Poas Volcano Lodge.

Day 8. Departure day
